For the second straight year, the Tennessee Big Shots benefiting Niswonger Children’s Hospital was a huge success. Not only was the televised culmination of the event an exciting spectacle for those on-site and those watching from home, but for four hitters, it provided an opportunity to engage with some special local residents.
Kyle Berkshire, Justin Moose, Alexis Belton and Chloe Garner on Monday afternoon (prior to competing in the telecast a few hours later) visited Niswonger Children’s Hospital, where they met several kids who were thrilled at the opportunity for visitors who would appear on TV later that evening.
One patient named Jaxson was presented with an autographed ball and hat, and then proceeded to receive a swing lesson from the experts before trying out a few drives of his own.
Big drives, bigger cause!

The event also incorporated Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals’® “Play Yellow” campaign, with balls coming to rest in the designated “Play Yellow Zones” (300-320 yards: Women’s Division; 380-400 yards: Open Division) eliciting donations to Niswonger Children’s Hospital (ex: a 386-yard drive would equate to a $386 donation). In total, 19 drives contributed to nearly $7,000 of donations. First introduced by World Golf Hall of Fame member Jack Nicklaus in March, “Play Yellow” was established as a way for the golf community to provide support and fundraising efforts for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals®, of which Niswonger Children’s Hospital is a member.
